BREAKING NEWS!!!

As many of you may already be aware, there was some sad news today (August 10th).  One of the clubs that STEAL DAWN calls home has been devastated by a fire during the early morning hours.  Gametime Tavern in Poway was a place that STEAL DAWN has been playing for over 7 years.  In the early days of STEAL DAWN, we used to rehearse a half a mile from there.  We would not only frequent what was known as Kaminski Park, but we would play other taverns in Poway.  BLINK 182 was not the only band to come out of Poway and have success! 

After the Kaminski Park years, it became known as Dad's Cafe'.  We continued performing there under the new ownership.  Of course the San Diego local news continues to talk about Dad's Cafe's claim to fame being the place that David Westerfield met the Van Damm's.  Ironically, the first time we performed for the new owners of Dad's Cafe', it was the night they filmed "America's Most Wanted", in which they recanted the story of David Westerfield and his escapades in Poway.  It was an unreal night, but we actually could be seen and heard on that episode on TV.

Then the ownership changed again to Gametime Tavern and we continued our relationship with the club.  Marcos was quite a character and we met many great new fans there!  It was always a party when STEAL DAWN was in town.  Our latest gig at Gametime was under the current, new management.  This was right before the 4th of July and I have fond memories of singing the National Anthem for the club patrons.  It was awe inspiring to have a room full of people stop, observe a moment of silence, then sing with me!  It was VERY COOL!

I'm sure more details will become available over the next couple weeks, but we want to extend our condolences to the new owners.  They were a very nice couple and we had really felt like Gametime Tavern was going to grow more than ever!  We don't know if Gametime will rise from the ashes, but we wanted to say how much we appreciated our years there and will always cherish the memories we have!

We do want to encourage our Poway following to come out and see us again real soon.  If you can make it to Ramona (the San Vicente Resort), I guarantee you will have a great time, have some great food and great drink prices.  Or you might find us on the coast at Boars Crossin'!  Hope to still see you out there!
