(Lead Vocals; Lead and Rhythm Guitars;
Piano and Keyboards)

Robert has been a member of the
group since October of 1993. After competing against 10 other vocalists for
the position, he became an integral part of the song writing process. Before
joining STEAL DAWN, Robert was a drummer and lead vocalist for a Los Angeles-based original rock band. During his college years, he taught himself how to
play guitar and keyboards. Shortly after school, he moved to the San Diego
area and began looking for a new original project.
In 1995, Karaoke Star Magazine named Robert
"Entertainer of the
Year" in the Top 40 category. The following year, he won the ROCK category.
Robert won the Top 40 category again in 1997! In November of 1998, Robert
made it four-in-a-row by winning the Rock category, but was also named
San Diego County's overall Entertainer of the Year. He performed songs like
"Faithfully" (Journey), and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" & "Dream On"
(Aerosmith). It was through these contests that Robert was able to write and
record parody songs for the STAR 100.7 FM morning show. In early 1999,
Robert was also voted Vocalist of the Year. "I did karaoke for the fun of
it. I never thought it would be this beneficial for my career. People see me
sing karaoke and they want to come out and hear the band! That's very cool,"
says Robert.
Robert has a distinct honor.
He was the FIRST SINGER to perform the National Anthem for the
San Diego Padres at the new Petco Park. He performs the anthem
every year for the Padres, as well as performances for the San Diego Gulls
(hockey), San Diego Flash (soccer) games and the University of San
Diego basketball and baseball games. Most anthem singers for
the Padres lipsync to their pre-recorded tapes. Robert is one
of few that perform the anthem LIVE!
In 2004, Robert wrote and recorded
his first solo album entitled
"Me, Myself, I & You,
Volume 1". On that album, Robert performed all the instruments
except for two solos by Andrew and a guest sax solo by his good friend, Jay
McGuerty. The album was almost entirely recorded in his studio/office at
home (except for the drums). Robert also did the artwork and CD production
at home. Quite an endeavour. He hopes to release Volume 2 shortly.
His voice and range have been compared to
Steve Perry (Journey), Sting, and Bryan Adams. Robert writes a majority of
the lyrics for STEAL DAWN, as well as writing the music for many of their
hits. This helps to accent his vocal style and ability, which sets the mood
for the many types of songs that the group writes. Robert says, Andy and I
bring out the best in each other's song writing talents, and it shows each
time we come up with something together, or on our own.
